One jumper can save your summer wardrobe

I refuse to admit that summer is nearly over. Refuse! Even though it means my floaty tops are now hidden under cosy sweaters - and these style shots have gone from sunny gardens to hardwood floors.

White jumper, £19.99, c/o Trendista; Sunglasses, Michael Kors; Shorts, French Connection
This bright white jumper from Trendista is great for chilly evenings and looks good with this year 's pretty prints too. There's no need to splurge on that winter wardrobe just yet, all you need is a loose knit to extend your summer style.

Bumper bargain beauty buys

Have you been to a B&M bargains? I've been picking up the odd thing from there for a while but never thought to share it with you guys until now!

Everything you see here I got for under £5 thanks to B&M and Primark. For 99p each, I bought:
  • Lemon and tea tree Original Source shower gel - a firm favourite in my house! It's great for waking you in the morning (Boots price: £2.30)
  • Timotei Golden Highlights shampoo and Golden Highlights conditioner - I alternate this with a Charles Worthington blonde shampoo to keep my colour in check (Superdrug price: £2.99 each)
  • Vaseline aloe fresh moisturiser - I *love* this moisturiser. After being a firm Jergens follower for ages, I was a bit sceptical but this is great - it sinks in really quickly and smells like a summer holiday (Boots price: £2.99)
The travel size Simple light moisturiser was just £1 in Primark (Boots price: £1.52) - just what I need for a little trip abroad next month.

Shopping around for beauty really does help - I saved a whopping £7.83 on just the basics!

What are your best tips for bargain beauty shopping?

Off the cuff

Hampton beach bracelet, £25, c/o e.a.g.n
Summer jewellery for me is all about bangles, cuffs and friendship bracelets. Well, it was until now anyway.

My current wristwear of choice is this gorgeous Hampton beach bracelet from e.a.g.n. It's a real statement piece and goes with absolutely everything. I've been working it with a light strappy summer dress and leather sandals for a very Hamptons worthy look.

Introducing: Deci London

Astra pendant Gemini, £395, Deci London
Deci London's designer Dessy Tsolova knows good jewellery when she sees it: her passion for accessories started when she lost a favourite emerald ring. She travelled to India in search of a replacement, which led to a chance introduction to a gemstone carver and her first ring design.

This beautiful necklace is part of a range inspired by the zodiac and birthstones. Each constellation is represented by the pretty stones of the two months over which each star sign falls. Admittedly Dessy's treasures are a little above the usual C&C budget but if you're looking for a graduation treat or special birthday present, take a look at her website today.

Interview: Alice Keswick, Designer, Wondaland

Wondaland is the new label from Central Saint Martin's graduate Alice Keswick. Feminine, playful and effortlessly chic, Wondaland has already picked up a strong fanbase including uber stylish girls Sienna Miller and Cara and Poppy Delvigne.

“Wondaland is a medley of my experiences of the fashion industry in Paris to the Orient and my love of past style whether it’s Bianca Jagger at Studio 54 or Irving Penn’s portraits of British debutantes in the fifties” says Alice, “My focus is to create unique prints and beautifully cut dresses, separates and tailoring that are easy to carry from day-to-night.”
I spoke to Alice last week about lace, leather and her label.

Chic & Cheerful: So Alice, tell me - what made you want to go in to fashion?
Alice Keswick: I think my first love of fashion started at about four years old, with our dressing-up box - we would play for hours putting on fashion shows.

C&C: That's adorable! How would you describe your style today? Who are your personal style icons?
AK: I really like Kate Bosworth's look! These days, I wear a lot of lace and leather. I like to play with opposites, whether it’s combining a vintage silk blouse with a leather skirt or a retro print dress with sharp tailoring. I also focus on a story with each look, whether it’s playing with colours, textures or just simple clothing with really strong accessories.

C&C: What's your favourite thing in your wardrobe?
AK: The vintage Heather blouse from my first collection, which I still can’t live without. It’s ivory silk with lace inserts and is the perfect separate. It literally goes with everything.

C&C: So tell me about the label: where did the name 'Wondaland' come from?
AK: It stems from me wanting to design the perfect wardrobe in my dream world…I’m Alice in Wondaland!

C&C: Who is the Wondaland girl?
AK: She's a globe trotter who can be found anywhere from Shoreditch to Manhattan, Ibiza to Glastonbury.

C&C: What inspired your SS13 collection?
AK: The mood is contemporary and fresh, mixing clean silhouettes with vintage lace and bright, psychedelic bird prints. Imagine Doris Day taking a dusty road trip across America and ending up at Coachella with a wardrobe full of tasselled jackets, micro lace short suits and bright silk dresses!

C&C: If you can pick one, which is your favourite Wondaland SS13 piece?
AK: It’s so hard to choose a favourite but I love all the Chambray, you’ll definitely be seeing it again next summer in different styles.

C&C: And finally, what can we look forward to for AW13?
AK: AW13 will be my sixth season and I am really excited by the collection! It’s a lot darker than before with an array of colourful prints set against an all-black colour palette. There will be lots of layering and transparency, along with contrasting textures, which all combine to create a new techno-gothic mood.

Ruthie and the technicolour dream jacket

ASOS habanera jacket - sadly sold out!
Guys, can we just take a second to appreciate this jacket? It. Is. Awesome. In fact I'd even go so far as to say it's the best thing I've bought this summer.

Colourful, patterned statment jackets are the most versatile item you can invest in at the moment. Pick up an off trend print (like this habanera style) for a garment that will see you through to winter!

Bargain of the week: Kate Middleton's Issa dress at Banana Republic

L: Issa London for Banana Republic; R: Kate Middleton in her £550 Issa engagement dress
While mama of the moment Kate Middleton is off bonding with her beautiful newborn boy, Banana Republic have been working hard with Issa to create a gorgeous new diffusion line.

Issa stole headlines back in 2010 when the Duchess of Cambridge wore *that* dress in her engagement pictures. Now, while you can snap up a cute copy of the blue wrap dress as part of this high street line, the whole collection really is worth a look. These are dresses worth investing in - they're beautifully cut, sport some fantastic prints and are totally summer friendly.

The Issa collection will be available in Banana Republic stores and online as of Thursday 8 August. Prices start at £75.
