Living with bitchy resting face

Living with chronic bitchface print, £25, Kris Atomic
The internet has been a-buzz with the sound of disgruntled women lately. Ever since this video went viral, the tabloids can't stop labelling any girl without a grin plastered across her face as a bitchy resting face sufferer.

But this is no new phenomenon: Kristina of Kris Atomic posted this funny (albeit drawn with a dose of well-deserved irritation) little illustration on her blog over two years ago. Buy a print and support the cause here.

Noisy May: 3 bargain basics to buy

Cowl back vest, £12; Animal skirt, £22; Paris t-shirt, £18, all Noisy May at Asos

Noisy May is the latest brand to join the best website in the world *ever*, Asos, and I am suitably impressed. They're a good t-shirt and jeans kind of label: slouchy, comfortable, fashionable. Noisy May errs on the right of grungy for me, with the cutest feminine pieces thrown in here and there.

These three styles are just what you need for your first foray into the brand, and for just £12, £18 and £22, you really can't leave them there!

It's back to ballet pumps!

Ballet flats c/o Freed of London
Ah, here comes the rain. Never have I been so relieved to see the heavens open!

So the sandals are back in the wardrobe for now, and I'm sporting these cute ballet flats from Freed of London. The dance specialists have just moved into making cute pumps for everyday wear, and I'm loving this olive green pair.

Easy beauty tips for warm weather

(c) Mike Monaghan
It's been so quiet on the blog this week you could almost hear the tumbleweed. That is if the air was actually moving here in GB. My excuse? I'm too hot. Too hot to blog, eat, sleep, work - too hot for anything. This heatwave has made me seriously lazy with my beauty regime too, so I thought I'd share some top tips for making your life a little lazier *ahem* easier.

1. Store in your vege
table drawer

Put your creams, moisturisers, toners, foundations, lotions and potions in the fridge. It's a great little morning wake me up, and they will slide on super smoothly.

2. Water, water all around...

Drink it, spritz it, whatever - just make sure you stay hydrated and happy. Your skin will thank you later.

3. Braid it
Work this year's big hair trend and swish those locks out of your face into some cute braids.

4. SPF - yesPF

Oh god, that's the worst headline I've ever written. I mean...oh, wow, the heat is clearly destroying my brain. Anyway. You need a good UVA and UVB protecting sun cream if you're heading out in hot weather. For your face, switch to an SPF lip balm and sun-protecting tinted moisturiser or foundation.

5. Go waterproof
There's nothing worse than smudgy sweaty make up. Keep it perfect by wearing waterproof mascara and eyeliner.

6. Don't lose your cool

Rub on a bit of a cooling aloe vera moisturiser (try Vaseline Intensive Care's aloe fresh body lotion) before bedtime for a zingy treat that will pep up your skin and help you relax.

7.Ex-foli-ate (Yes that is a Doctor Who reference)
Wanna keep that tan? Make it last longer by exfoliating regularly - and it'll unblock your pores too!

8. Hydrate your hair
There are lots of UV protecting leave-in conditioners on the market. If you're planning a day at the beach, comb it through to avoid dry ends.

Bargain of the week: Primark summer friendly jacket

It's almost impossible to dress smartly for work and not end up sweating like a little piggy in five minutes at the moment. It's so warm here that I've resorted to the same rotation of skater dresses and open toe ballet shoes but it's not quite right for my office.

This jacket from Primark is great: it's really thin and is so on trend right now. Teamed with a strappy black midi dress and sandals and you can look smart and keep cool (well, cooler anyway!).

Introducing: Susie Faulks

Susie Faulks' one of a kind oilcloth bags
Susie Faulks is a country girl through and through - her love of pattern and colours comes from growing up on a dairy farm in the Great British countryside.

She started sewing back in the 70s, making her first designs on her grandmother's old Singer sewing machine: faded velvet curtains were turned into coats and hats, old sheets were upcycled into tie-dyed dungarees and any other scraps of fabric were turned into some of Susie's very first handbags.

This cutie's not for sale!

All of this rich upbringing is what has inspired Susie's current range of retro feel bags. They're on par with Cath Kidston and Emma Bridgewater's iconic designs and the lovely fabrics are made in England in small print runs by a family run factory, making them limited edition too!

A committed vegetarian of 25 years(!), all of Susie's products are free from animal products and PeTA approved.

5 of the best: cross body bags

I don't know where I'd be without my soft leather crossover bag. I splurged on it a few years ago in TK Maxx; in hindsight, cream probably wasn't the best colour to choose, but it has worn in beautifully.

Whether you're spending your summer at the beach or wandering around beautiful cities, now is the time to invest in a new cross body bag. If you don't fancy any of these, I highly recommend taking a look at the Debenhams summer sale, they have some absolute bargains at up to 70% off!

1. Brown metallic tile patterned across body bag, £52, Butterfly by Matthew Williamson
3. Blue zigzag woven across body bag, £31.20, Butterfly by Matthew Williamson
4. Tooled cross body leather bag, £55, Warehouse
5. Navy striped across body bag, £22.40, Kangol

How to wear a boyfriend t-shirt

I live in boyfriend tees at the moment. They're so easy and unstructured while still being surprisingly chic. I'm wearing mine with high waisted skirts and dainty bracelets to make this wardrobe basic work and weather friendly. But if that's not your style, why not try one of these ideas?

Team your tee with a pretty statement necklace
Boyfriend tee, £3.50, Primark; Necklace, £15.99, Zara
Balance the boxy shoulders with a show off skirt!
Holy chic tee, Primark; Texas tassels skirt, £73.50, French Connection

Bargain of the week: monochrome 50s dress from Peacocks

50s monochrome dress, £16, c/o Peacocks; Heels (from a few years ago), Shellys;
Pastel cream 13" satchel, £89, c/o Zatchels
This is the summer of monochrome!

Although black and white can be quite striking against tanned skin on a sunny evening out, in the daytime it can make us porcelain (read: pale) skinned beauties look a little washed out. The print on this 50s style dress from Peacocks is great for working B&W and, teamed with a few choice cream accessories (tones down the white to warm up your outfit) and some bright nail varnish, will add a summer spark to any wardrobe.
