Converse and smock dresses

Converse All Star spec ox trainers, £35, Asos
I'm in a wonderfully springy, happy, bohemian style mood at the moment. Gone are the ballet pumps and 50s skirts, for now I'm all about girly little smock dresses and these beautiful starry Converse. Roll on summer so I can ditch the tights too.

Win 1 of 9 magazine subscriptions with Zinio!

A few of my current favourites
I'm kind of obsessed with magazines. Which, although probably not the best for my bank balance, is actually pretty good given the fact that I'm now in charge of one. *Ahem* sneaky bragging about my new job aside, the reason I'm bringing this up is because the lovely people over at Zinio have been in touch with the most fantastic offer. Not only have they offered me a digital subscription to one of my favourite titles, they've also promised nine (NINE!) free subscriptions for you lovely lot.

Zinio have some really great offers on their digital magazine subscriptions at the moment so if the luck isn't with you today, why not consider subscribing using one of these promotions (available worldwide): $5 back for every $10 you spend (ends 31 March 2013); two years for the price of one (ends 2 April 2013) or five titles for $5 each (ends 31 March 2013).

How to win a subscription...
All you have to do to enter this competition is like the Chic & Cheerful Facebook page, follow the blog on Twitter or follow on Bloglovin'. Then, in the comment box below, write your name, somewhere I can contact you (email/Twitter) and where you followed and you'll be entered into a draw. Weekend treat: personalised iPhone caseapp

Personalised iPhone 4S case c/o caseapp
One of the perks of being an iPhone owner is changing the cover, like, every day. Seriously, in the short time I've been an Apple follower, I've already gone through two others (Cath Kidston and Doctor Who) before this one of a kind version landed in my letter box from caseapp. If you fancy a change this weekend, why not try making your own?

Bargain of the week: D&G sunglasses at Primark

Dolce and Gabbana A/W 2012-13 sunglasses
It is highly debatable whether we've actually made the fashion season transition yet: my general rule is that once my winter coat gets stored, it's time for spring/summer fashions - no such luck yet though, I'm still freezing in a heavy raspberry jacket and two pairs of tights. But I swear I saw the sun today so, to honour this special occasion, this week's summery bargain pays homage to last season's offerings at Dolce and Gabbana.
3D flower detail sunglasses, £3, Primark
These adorable floral sunglasses from Primark give a cheeky little nod to the Italian fashion house's Autumn/Winter 2012 style. Bundle with a chunky jumper and make the most of the remaining few bright frosty mornings.

Adventure inspiration: Geneva, Switzerland

After a difficult end to 2012, I decided to start doing more to make myself happier and I hope that will be reflected in this blog too. Things are going to change slightly, but for the better. Expect more lifestyle posts, mostly on travel and other little adventures that I know you'll love as much as I do - starting with a micro trip I took to Switzerland at the start of this week.

Image from bikesandkites.com

I'm not one for flying, I get restless from being crammed into such a tiny seat. I mean really, I'm 5ft4 and I don't have enough legroom, I pity anyone over 6ft. But the flight to Geneva was spectacular to say the least. There was not a cloud in the sky as we glided over Europe. After travelling over English stately homes and intricate rows of housing, we said a quick hello to the white cliffs of Dover and sped off over the English Channel.

After a little doze, I woke up to spot the Île de la Cité and the Île Saint-Louis in Paris. The city soon changed to countryside though and then we met the glorious Alps. The mountains rose around the plane, dotted with snowy peaks and shrouded in the warm haze of sunset. It's an image I'm sure I'll never forget. I wanted to reach out and trail my fingers through the pink mist, it was simply incredible.
Forty-eight very busy hours in Geneva were totally worth it, just for the 110 minutes I had my nose pressed to that plane window.

Bargain of the week: Mulberry Willow at Accessorize

L-R: Elinor pocket tote, £42, Accessorize; Mint classic calf Willow tote, £1,500, Mulberry
I love the new Mulberry Willow but, obviously, can't afford its £1,500 price tag - I mean, unless I don't want to eat this year that is. That's why this lookalike from Accessorize makes the perfect alternative to my Mulberry dream: I can take it to work and still manage a sandwich too.

Sunday round up 3/3/13

Today is one of those days where all I really want to do is curl up with a cup of tea and read a good book. So while I'm off having a lazy day, why not catch up on what's been happening this week on Chic & Cheerful?

Weekend treat: XOXO ring by Laura Gravestock

Even at the end I loved Gossip Girl; even when it got so ridiculously unbelievable, it was still one of my favourite shows - so it's kind of no surprise that this ring caught my eye.

18ct gold plated sterling silver XOXO ring, £59, Laura Gravestock
The XOXO ring is part of Laura Gravestock's Written range of jewellery. It's fresh, chic and gives a cheeky nod to my guilty teen drama pleasure (for those of you not in the know, the show's tagline was 'XOXO Gossip Girl' said in this uber bitchy American whisper. It was like Mean Girls with way more disposable cash and hotter guys). Sure this may be a tenuous link between a cancelled show and a new designer find but this little gift is a fantastic way to treat yourself to some quirky New York-esque style this weekend.
