Must read DIY style blogs

I'm absolutely, totally, utterly and completely obsessed with DIY fashion blogs at the moment. I guess it's pretty obvious by now how much I love budget fashion (bargain of the week anyone?) so any high fashion look for a low price will always be a winner with me. But these amazing writers don't market designer knock-offs or churn out the same high street trends, they show you how to emulate your style, be eco-friendly and have a ton of fun in the process.

So for those of you who have yet to discover this gem of the blogosphere, here's a little introduction to some of the best I love to read.

First up on the list is Matter of Style. This sparkly blog is great for finding easy to make accessories. Favourites include these Miu Miu style glitter shoes made from an old pair of stilettos and a suede belt; a Christopher Kane SS12 inspired floral clutch and a metallic peter pan collar, similar to Louis Vuitton's AW11 offerings.

A Beautiful Mess really is just that: a beautiful mess. Regardless of the amazing DIYs on this style blog, it's just one of those websites which are a pleasure to look at. Visit for tutorials on everything from quirky saddle shoes to vintage suitcase storage from the lovely Elsie Larson.

P.S. If you love Elsie's style, you really need to have a gander at her cute shop, Red Velvet

TIMI is full of great DIYs complimented by inspiration and tips on where you can buy the real deal posts for those of us who may be a little slack when it comes to keeping on top of creative projects. I love this little arrowhead necklace teaser and the wonderfully easy how-to.

Honestly WTF do these great stand out yet understated pieces, the kind that will get you noticed for all the good reasons. Top of my to do list are these colour block moccasins, this Dolce and Gabbana style tiara and, one of SS12's most coveted accessories, Prada-esque rose and rhinestone earrings.

It started with a ring. Well, a whole stack of rings actually. I've only just discovered Glitter 'n' Glue but am already hooked. These simple ball bearing chain rings drew me in but I'm sticking around for more inspired posts like this Marni for H&M style necklace made from recycling bin materials.

Geneva from A pair and a spare really should just give it all up and go into fashion design (if she isn't there already of course!). Her projects are just pure high class style. Absolutely beautiful, completely understated and a wonderful resource for us readers. If you only visit one blog on this list, make it A pair and a spare.

7. PS I made this
Another one which is just a beauty to look at is PS I made this. Every post is beautifully designed and accompanied with scrapbook images to get your creative juices flowing. I love love love this coral cuff - it would have fitted right in at the Chanel SS12 show don't you think?

8. Chic steals
Carly from Chic steals really goes all out on her DIYs, just take these Dolce and Gabbana style sunnies, for example. She made her own resin clay flowers to decorate - impressive stuff!
