Kimono: the perfect autumn cover up

Saviour thy name is kimono. Sure, you may have been a big trend last season but all that means is that you're already lurking in the back of our wardrobes, clamouring to be worn again.

With all this up and down weather we're having in old Blighty, kimonos are the best way to cover up without lugging round a chunky cardi all day. If you haven't discovered the beauty of these Japanese-esque garments (the ones on the high street are a bit far flung from the traditional garb of Japan) then take a look at these style suggestions.

1. Work rock chick cool with this paisley stripe from Band of Gypsies
2. Laid back lace in warm grey makes for a versatile jacket by O&O
3. Opt for traditional patterns with this soft floral print
(River Island at Asos, £23)
4. This abstract feather design is perfect for 70s styling
5. Inky blues and pinks on black smarten this work-friendly garment
6. This cute butterfly print will transition well into the summer months
7. This fantastic mixed print will add a touch of glamour to any outfit
8. A more traditional shape with 3/4 sleeves works the vintage vibe
(River Island, £30)
9. Mix trends with this aztec chiffon jacket from New Look
(New Look, £16.99)
