David Koma to collaborate with Topshop

David Koma has been announced as the latest designer to collaborate with high street retailer Topshop.

The Georgian-born, Central Saint Martins graduate shot to fame after stars such as Cheryl Cole and Beyonce were seen wearing his designs.

The collection will be Topshop's most premium and limited edition to date. Five pieces ranging in price between £100 and £350 will go on sale mid-February; only 30 of each design will be available.

The outfits follow Koma's typical trademark sculptural dress style with heavy metal embellishment.

"Topshop signifies youth and modernity and its spirit evokes 'cool London'," says Koma. "It was really exciting to work with the Topshop team as I felt they understood me as a designer and appreciated my need to make a high quality product without compromising the design aesthetic, quality of fabric or finishing. They helped make my vision a reality and I'm thrilled with the result."

S/S 2011
Koma's Spring/Summer 2011 runway show was a sight to behold as figures in Swan Lake inspired garments paraded down the catwalk to the opening tones of Tchaikovsky's music. Each piece carefully reflected the image of a "fragile yet strong" ballerina.
